Drought Busting Rains Moving Northeastward
Everything is set for drought busting rains for the entire area from the Middle Atlantic States to Southern New England. No one will be left out and everyone will get a nice soaking of up to several inches between Tuesday morning and early Thursday morning.
DROUGHT BUSTING RAINS GFS MODEL FORECAST THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING
The GFS weather model produces a large area of 2 to 4 inch rains over the 48 hour period. If this plays out it will be the most significant 2 day event of rain we have seen this year and will at least start the process of making inroads into the rainfall deficit.
Meanwhile the weather system responsible for this is organizing in the Northern Plains. It is a rather large storm and you can see on the satellite loop that its circulation covers a large portion of the United States. It is so large that it is going to take two areas of energy to rotate around it before it moves far enough to the east to bring improvement here at the end of the week.
Look for sunshine to give way to arriving clouds today. Rain will develop across the area before daybreak and then it will be the first round of rain through Tuesday afternoon. Then we get a break followed by another round of rain Wednesday into Wednesday evening before it all moves away to the east. We will dry out and turn a little colder Thursday and into the weekend.
