Dew Points Drop Slightly Bad Hair Weather Weekend Next Week
Dew Points Drop Slightly Bad Hair Weather Weekend Next Week
We have been dealing with dew points in the 70s but we are getting some humidity relief today even if it is only slight relief. The dew point temperature which is used to calculate relative humidity has taken a bit of a drop today. It is still muggy outside but it feels a bit better that what we had. We could see those dew points edge a bit lower overnight into Friday morning but dew points will rise again over the weekend and into next week as moisture is set to return. At least we are seeing sunshine and clouds today. Temperatures right now are in the 80s and we should finish in the upper 80s to a few lower 90s.
EASTERN SATELLITE
We do see some scattered clouds on the satellite loop this afternoon. While the radars are relatively quiet, there could be a few isolated pop up showers or thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening but they should be few and far between.
REGIONAL RADAR
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Friday we begin to see the next weather change getting underway as a northern trough decides to drop into the Eastern US. We will see a mix of sun and clouds on Friday with highs in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. A few isolated pop ups are possible. Then a frontal boundary settles to our south and an onshore flow develops Friday night and for the weekend.
This is going to create a bit of an overrunning situation Saturday and Sunday which will mean more clouds than anything else and there will be some showers and downpours around. Temperatures on Saturday will probably have a tough time getting out of the 70s. Sunday will be about the same with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. It won’t rain all of the time however there probably won’t be much sun either.
JET STREAM MONDAY EVENING AUGUST 14, 2018
The upper low will be very slow to move out of the way so the threat for downpours and thunderstorms will continue Monday and Tuesday of next week. This could be another wet period with 2 to 4 inches of rain possible cumulatively from Saturday through Tuesday but this will all hinge on where the heaviest downpours occur. There will be variation in amounts and of course given the wet conditions lately, downpours can always produce rounds of local flash flooding. As to real relief from bad hair weather, that may not come until next weekend.
