Bad Hair Weather Hanging Tough Weekend Worries
Bad Hair Weather Hanging Tough Weekend Worries
Bad hair weather starts the morning with warm humid conditions however we should see a slight easing of humidity later today with some sunshine and clouds. The question of whether an isolated shower or thunderstorm pops up is on the table. I think for a vast majority of the area the chances are very low and the vast majority of the area will not see one. We are chewing through the last of some leftover clouds this morning. The satellite loop suggests we should go partly to mostly sunny as we move through the day. Temperatures are in the 70s this morning and highs should reach the mid to upper 80s this afternoon.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Other than some thunderstorms offshore this morning which will be gone soon radars to the west and north are quiet and should remain so today for the most part. Skies will be nice and clear tonight with lows in the mid 60s to lower 70s.
NAM MODEL FRIDAY EVENING AUGUST 10, 2018
A frontal boundary sets up right over us Thursday. In upstate NY dew points will be dropping into the 40s in some places while from NYC southward dew points will be climbing again. This creates a chance for showers and thunderstorms just north of NYC late Friday into Friday night. We should see no worse than a mix of sun and clouds before that happens though with highs in the 80s.
GFS SATURDAY EVENING FORECAST
As far as Saturday goes you can expect that frontal boundary to shift to the south which will turn the wind to the northeast. This will create some overrunning with lots of clouds and the risk for showers. It doesn’t rain all the time and there will be dry stretches. I just don’t think there will be very much if any sun at all.
UPPER AIR FORECAST MONDAY AUGUST 13, 2018
With another trough cutting off to our west it will likely keep us in clouds on Sunday but I don’t see that much of a rain threat. Perhaps the sun could attempt to cut through the clouds in some places. Temperatures should reach into the 80s. There will likely be some downpours Sunday night on and off into Tuesday until the trough gets out of the way by Wednesday of next week. The humidity will be marching higher overall going into next week and we may have to wait until next weekend for some real humidity relief.
