Day 30 of No Rain Temperatures On the Rise Near Record Highs Thursday
Chance For Showers Thursday Night into Friday Morning
Thirty days of no measurable rain is now taking it’s toll. Conditions are very dry obviously and wildfire risk continues probably until further notice. There isn’t much happening this morning on satellites and radars though we do have high clouds coming in from the west as a warm front goes by to our north. I’m going to throw in the chance for a shower late today into tonight as the southern end of that warm front goes by. Even if it rains, it may be barely enough to wet the pavement. Otherwise let us call today partly sunny. Temperatures are climbing now that we have a south wind. Highs will reach the middle and upper 60s in most places.

Warmer air is spreading northward thanks to the building high pressure ridge aloft in the Middle Atlantic states. That ridge will be strong enough to send temperatures up through Thursday to the point where we could see record highs being set in parts of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. Meanwhile a cold front will be setting up in the nation’s mid section with showers, thunderstorms, severe weather and heavy rain from Oklahoma northeast to the Great Lakes.
This front like several others will weaken as it moves eastward so by the time it arrives Friday, it will have very little moisture to work with. It seems that this front could now move through with just clouds and just the outside chance of a shower. That will be followed by another chilly air mass for the weekend.
Wednesday is looking to be a mostly sunny and warm day. Temperatures will reach the middle and upper 70s in many locations though it may be a little cooler along the shore. Thursday is Halloween and we are setting up for a very warm day of record high temperatures reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s just about everywhere. There are no weather issues for trick or treaters.
The next cold front passes late Thursday night and Friday morning. We will have leftover warm air around so clouds will give way to some sunshine. We will have a gusty northwest developing and temperatures will still reach the upper 60s and lower 70s. The weekend looks (you may have guessed by now) dry and sunny and cooler. Saturday and Sunday highs will be generally in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Nights will by chilly with most lows in the 40s coast and urban areas and some 30s inland. Long range for next week it is more of the same. Another warm up gets underway Monday and lasts through midweek. Another cold front passes cooling it down for late week. No rain is forecast until further notice.
