Cold Weekend Quiet Week Ahead Until Late Friday Northeast & Mid Atlantic
Cold Weekend Quiet Week Ahead Until Late Friday Northeast & Mid Atlantic
Yesterday;s stalled frontal boundary has now pushed further south and it is bringing much needed rain to parts of the Southeast US where drought conditions remain an issue. However we here in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states will be under the control of high pressure building in Southeastern Canada and this is going to keep things chilly and dry for the weekend with no rain issues.
The flow of cold air from the north will keep temperatures in check today as we enjoy sunshine. Highs will be in the low to middle 50s this afternoon though some areas well inland north and west and of the coast may struggle to get to 50. This will lead to a cold night of clear skies. Most lows tonight will be in the mid 20s to lower 30s.

Sunday will be another nice cold day of sunshine but it will be colder than today as many areas will probably not get out of the 40s. This will lead to another cold night of clear skies Sunday night into Monday morning with most lows away from warmer urban areas will be in the mid to upper 20s while the warmer urban areas will settle mostly in the lower 30s.
The week ahead will be chilly but dry into Wednesday. We do have a weak weather front that will move through Monday with little in the way of issues other than passing clouds. This will keep things chilly for the first half of the week before we give way to a more southerly flow and warmer air late week.
Late in the week we will see a strong storm develop in the Eastern Great Lakes and Eastern Canada and there will be a strong cold front that will approach and move through. This will bring rain late Friday into early Saturday. However until then it is a relatively smooth sail. Monday Tuesday and Wednesday we will see at least some sunshine each day with highs in the low to middle 50s. Then as we head to Thursday and Friday we should start to move up to the upper 50s and lower 60s. Thursday should be a good day with some sun but then weather conditions deteriorate for Friday as the front nears. Early indications for Thanksgiving week show that another storm system could impact a rather large area of the US and it could be an issue here Tuesday into Wednesday. We will be discussing this more in our long range outlook later this weekend.
