Coastal Flood Warning Long Island New Jersey Shore Wind Advisory Eastern Long Island

We are going into day 2 of dealing with this storm that is sitting off our shoreline by about 250 miles to the southeast of Long Island and east of Atlantic City New Jersey. During the night some dry air at low and mid levels has moved in and skies actually partially cleared out in many areas. This is going to be very limited in terms of scope regarding rain today. Certainly clouds will be backing in westward this morning with rain spreading west over Long Island and Southern New England back to about NYC. West and Northwest of NYC today it will just be clouds around with perhaps a few breaks of sun this morning and just a few passing showers today with temperatures in the 50s where it is raining and low 60s inland.

Radars are still showing bands of raining coming in from the east with a heavier band building off the coast of Southeastern New England and backing westward. Look for that rain to move in from east to west and reaching to about NYC before it falls apart.

Maximum tidal impact will be occurring in high tides late today and tonight into early Friday and Coastal Flood Warnings are in effect. With respect to wind, a wind advisory is in effect for Suffolk County only on Long Island where winds will gust to 40 to 50 mph later today into tonight while on the New Jersey shore look for gusts between 30 and 40 mph. Moderate coastal flooding is likely at the high tides this evening and again Friday morning.

This is the point where the low makes its closest approach to the coast which will be this evening. Then the low will be continuing the counter clockwise loop into Friday and then eventually head out to the east on Saturday. Look for lots of clouds on Friday with the chance for some patchy rain. Highs will be in the 50s to near 60. Saturday we will still have lots of clouds with temperatures back into the 60s. Then some sunshine returns on Sunday with highs in the 60s to near 70l

To the east of NYC across Connecticut, Long Island and Southeastern New England look for 1 to as much as 3 inches of rain with the highest amounts in Southeastern New England.
