Clouds to Sunshine Today Warmer Temperatures Ahead
Thunderstorms Possible Thursday
The weekend has not exactly been picture perfect but the slow trend to improving weather conditions continues today. We still have some clouds across the Northeast but the radars are quiet. Today starts 4 days of no rain in the forecast and that hasn’t happened since the first week of April. Today we will see increasing amounts of sunshine as we go through the day. We still have a bit of an onshore flow so temperatures along the coast will be mostly in the 60s while inland highs today will reach the 70s.

Tonight should be a night of mainly clear skies except for perhaps a few clouds along the coast. Most lows overnight will be in the 50s. Monday will be a nice day of sunshine. We will still be dealing with a wind off the ocean but temperatures have no place to go but higher. We will see highs reaching the mid 70s to around 80 degrees in areas inland and mid 60s to near 70 along the coast.
Tuesday and Wednesday we will be under a southwest flow both aloft and at the surface. This will allow temperatures to warm considerably for both Tuesday and Wednesday. We will see plenty of sunshine and very warm temperatures. Highs both days will be in the 80s with local sea breezes confined to coastal locations, south and east facing shorelines specifically.
Severe weather this week will begin in the Central Plains today and spread across the Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes Monday and Tuesday but the storm system and cold front will stay west of the East Coast until Thursday when we could see some showers and thunderstorms later in the day. Highs Thursday will be in the 80s once again. Friday is getaway day for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and as long as the weather front keeps moving, and we think it will do just that, sunshine returns Friday with lower temperatures in the 70s. The Memorial Day holiday weekend is looking good for 2 of the three days.
