Calm Quiet Weather Through Christmas Eve & Christmas Day No Rain or Snow

The last remnants of the Sunday Monday super rain and wind storm is now well offshore and we can put the weather in cruise control right through Christmas Day. For much of the East Coast from Maine to Florida we will see minimal issues weatherwise The only issue will be some rain from the Lower Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast Sunday and Christmas Day if you happen to be travelling in these areas but we are not talking about anything major with this.

What is truly remarkable about this weather pattern is the total lack of snow cover and hardly any snow will be falling across much of the US over the next 5 to 7 days. Meanwhile we have today which is going to be a mainly sunny chilly day with highs in the low to mid 40s. Satellites are not showing much in the way of clouds and the radars are mostly quiet in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic.

Right through the weekend and even into Christmas Day we will be sitting close to the edge of chilly air and close to the edge of milder air to the west and south However we don;t see anything that will create issues other than perhaps Saturday when we will have some clouds around and the outside change for a shower.

Other than that minor issue we will be fine. Thursday will bring us sunshine with just a few patchy clouds and high temperatures will be in the low to middle 40s. We can nudge those temperatures down a bit Friday as high pressure to the northeast creates a north northeast flow of slightly colder air. We are looking for highs in the upper 30s to mid 40s Friday afternoon and no worse than partly sunny skies.

Saturday we see a weak warm front moving through from south to north so ahead of that there will probably be some clouds around and the chance perhaps for a passing shower unless you are well inland in which case it could be a passing snow showers. Eventually highs will reach the mid to upper 40s but that may not happen until very late in the day.

Christmas Eve we see no issues at all. We will probably see nothing worse than partly sunny skies and it will be on the mild side with most highs in the mid 40s to around 50 in warm spots. Monday Christmas day looks equally mild with skies mostly cloudy to partly sunny and high temperatures reaching the mid 40s to around 50 degrees.

Clouds will be on the increase Tuesday as low pressure heads to the Great Lakes and rain from the Gulf States and Southeast moves northward up the coast. We will likely see rain from this system Tuesday night into Wednesday of next week but this does not look to be another major storm.
