No Real Rain Through Saturday
When I’m talking real rain i’m not talking about an isolated shower or thunderstorm. There is a very very small chance for that this evening in most areas. I’m talking about a widespread soaking rain over a 24 hour period. Sadly there is not rain like that in sight. Given that mid September until late October is probably the driest time of the year, the hopes for drought breaking rain seem very dim indeed.
Temperatures across the area are very warm. In New Jersey it is a ot day with highs in the lower 90s. The dew points are higher than yesterday but they are just shy of true discomfort. It is actually more humid and more uncomfortable along coastal locations even though coastal temperatures are lower.
The satellite loop shows 2 tropical storms and a cold front . Ian to the far east, July to the south along the South Carolina coast and the cold front to the north. That front moves through tonight and you can already see dry air moving into the Western Great Lakes. That arrives overnight as temperatures fall into the 50s by morning.
Other than a passing shower or thunderstorm this evening the transition to the next dry air mass will be relatively seemless. Thursday through Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs each day in the low to mid 70s and nights in the 50s with 40s in cool spots. Sunday may be the next chance for any important rainfall.
