Another Day Clouds Fog Showers Tonight Friday

It is another day of fighting with a warm front to the south. We have clouds and fog around this morning and typically this time of year warm fronts are very problematic. The ocean is so cold with water temperatures near or just over 40 while the land temperature wants to heat up. That disparity creates days like yesterday and today with low clouds, fog and the occasional shower. That will be the story today. In Southern New Jersey south of Route 195 we could see the warm front make some progress and there is chance that in these areas temperatures could reach the 60s this afternoon. For everyone else to the north and northeast it will be mostly in the low to mid 50s.

THURSDAY’S FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES

To the west the satellite picture this morning shows lots of clouds and widepspread shower activity that extends from Western Pennsylvania southwestward into the Gulf States where severe weather will be a threat today. As low pressure moves out of the Southern Plains and heads to our west and north the bulk of this rain will go with it. A cold front from this approaches tonight and Friday with some showers. If everything moves along weather conditions should start to improve from west to east later Friday afternoon and night. Temperatures Friday will be in the 60s.

We continue to hold firm that much of the weekend will be fine with some sunshine both Saturday and Sunday with highs both days in the 50s. The only issue is a cold front Saturday night into early Sunday morning which will produce clouds and perhaps a few passing brief shower or two in the hours around daybreak. Other than that it will be a reasonable and seasonal weekend. Next week will be one where we will be dealing with shots of cold air every couple of days. No major storms are on the horizon however.
