Active Colder Pattern Developing

It appears that last weeks major storm plus a few other factors have set the ball in motion for an more active colder pattern overall in the long range. First things first we are riding the wave higher as the next warm front goes by and the next cold front approaches on Monday. Clouds are evident on the satellite loop this morning and we have seen some showers pass through during the early morning hours.

Radar shows that showers have moved on through and now there is a gap as we wait for a second area of showers to probably move by later today or this evening. Much of the shower activity is light though a heavier downpour however brief can’t be ruled out. Most of today will just be cloudy and rather gloomy looking.

Temperatures overnight didn’t fall far and we are in the 50s this morning. We should inch into the 60s later today. Tonight as milder air continues to arrive we could see some patchy dense fog develop. Monday look for warm conditions with clouds and some breaks of sun early with highs in the upper 60s to some lower 70s before clouds move in and showers develop in the afternoon and evening.

COLDER MORE ACTIVE PATTERN BEGINS TUESDAY

Weather models seem to be setting us up for at least a return to average temperatures or even a bit below average for much of this week with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. There will be a wave on the front for Tuesday that should pass by to our south but keep us in at least some clouds. Another wave of low pressure is possible later Thursday into Friday and again over next weekend. Models earlier were suggesting a strong shot of colder air at the end of the week followed by another warm up but this appears to be off the table at the moment and instead it looks like a longer period of “normal” may be developing. We will explore the long range in greater detail later today.
