80 Degree Highs Possible Thursday Severe Weather Risk

Shower Thunderstorm Risk Saturday

We have started the day with sunshine but we do have a warm front to our south that will be moving northward. The wind today is more from the south than from the west and that ocean component to the wind will knock the temperatures lower by a few degrees but highs should still reach into the 70s inland with 60s along the coast and from NYC eastward.

The warm front is being driven northward by a powerful storm in the Plains. This is going to produce a widespread severe weather outbreak today in the Mississippi and Ohio Valley as well as parts of the Upper Midwest. A small area of marginal risk ahead of the warm front is indicated today in Eastern Pennsylvania with the risk for a shower or thunderstorm to the coast of New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. We will be watching for a shower or thunderstorm late today into this evening.

The warm front goes by tonight and that sets us up for a very warm day Thursday. We should see some sunshine and clouds and that will take temperatures up through the 70s and into the 80s away from the ocean.’

All that daytime heating will destabilize the atmosphere and we will see some showers and thunderstorms develop Thursday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has indicated a marginal risk for severe weather from the Hudson Valley and Western New England southward into the Middle Atlantic states.

Friday should see improving weather conditions with sunshine and highs in the 60s. Saturday we have another cold front and an upper trough to energize it so look for sun and clouds with highs in the 60s. Watch for a shower or thunderstorm late in the day Saturday. Easter Sunday will be a breezy and chilly day with sunshine. Highs will be in the chilly 50s.
