28th Straight Day of No Rain Streak Will Continue Through Thursday
Big Warmup Starts Tuesday
We continue to roll along in this dry pattern as today makes 28 straight days with no rain in much of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. In fact much of the East Coast is seeing its driest October on record and by Friday we will know how many cities will finish the month with all time record low rainfall for not only the month or any month ever! In the meantime we have another cool air mass that is building into the Northeast and Mid Atlantic. Sunshine today will come with a gusty breeze and most highs in the 50s to near 60.
Tonight will be a cold night except for the warmest urban areas where lows will be above 40 degrees. Most lows tonight will be in the 30s and many inland areas will drop to 32 or less. Freeze Watches and Frost Advisories are posted from New Jersey to Virginia in areas where they have not had their first frosts and freezes. Some 20s are possible in the coldest inland areas north and northwest of the coast.

WEATHER RADAR
Not much is happening on satellite and radar loops across the Northeast and Mid Atlantic today and we expect that to remain the case through Thursday. High pressure will be moving offshore Tuesday and we will begin to see temperatures turning higher again. The next cold front is not due until Friday and there is the chance that we could see some showers when the front passes through during the day Friday however don’t be surprised if the front turns out to be another dry weather front and all the rain dries up before it gets here.
Monday is going to be a chilly sunny day with highs in the 50s to around 60 degrees. Monday Winds will be already turning to the south by Monday evening and Monday night won’t be as cold though low temperatures by Tuesday morning will be in the 30s inland and low to mid 40s coast and warmer urban locations.
Tuesday starts the warm up as a warm front passes to our north. Some high clouds will be around Tuesday veiling some of the sunshine but highs will reach the middle and possibly even the upper 60s. Wednesday the warm up accelerates with sunshine and a west southwest wind. Wednesday highs will be in the mid to upper 70s.
Thursday is the last day of the month of October and it is Halloween. We are likely setting up for a day of potentially record breaking highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s with sunshine. This will be the last warm day this week as that next cold front mentioned earlier will approach and move through later Thursday night into Friday morning.
Even if it turns out we get a few showers from the frontal passage we are talking about rain that may be barely enough to wet the ground. Another dry and cooler air mass will build in for Friday and the weekend with lower temperatures but plenty of sunshine. There are no signs of the dry pattern that has been with us since the beginning of September breaking down any time in the next 2 weeks or possibly longer.
