Yes That Was Snow You Saw This Morning,
Another Chance Tonight Bitter Cold Friday Night & Saturday
Well it wasn’t much but yes that was snow this morning that fell thanks to a frontal boundary going by and a weak wave of low pressure along it pulling down just enough cold air to make it happen. Some places even managed a coating to a 1/2 inch! At least we know that it is still capable of doing that in this non winter-winter. As it all pulls away to the east we will have leftover clouds around as temperatures settle in the 30s to around 40 this afternoon. Then another wave of low pressure will pass by to our south tonight into Wednesday morning.

Not all of the model guidace is showing snow for overnight but a few are so the chance is there. Since those models that had last night got it right we will leave it in the forecast and and there is a chance someone winds up with a coating or a bit more. Lows tonight will be in the 20s.
Once the wave pulls out Wednesday morning we will have leftover clouds and maybe some breaks of sun with highs just in the 30s. Thursday should be a quiet day as the frontal boundary will be further south so I don’t think we will see any precipitation. Thursday highs will be in the upper 30s to some lower 40s.
Friday morning sees the arrival of an arctic front and ahead of it we could see a narrow line of snow squalls. This is something we will have to wait until Thursday to figure out if and how it happens. However regardless of the snow squall chance, bitter cold air will arrive and we will see temperatures likely settle in the 20s with a gusty north wind developing. Temperatures will fall further into the teens during Friday afternoon. Winds will gust to 40 mph. Then down we go to Saturday morning lows in the single digits to below zero.
The good news is that this shot of bitter cold air will be in and out quick. Saturday high temperatures will be in the upper teens and lower 20s with sunshine and a gusty wind. Saturday night into Sunday morning will not be as cold as the core of the cold air will have pulled out. Lows will be in the teens to low 20s. Sunday we will warm up quick with sunshine and arriving clouds with highs back to the upper 30s and lower 40s!
This brief taste of winter ends this weekend and then it is back to the same ole same ole next week. It looks as if the week will be mostly dry until late in the week and temperatures will be near or above average for the most part. We may not see any rain until the end of the week as the next storm system heads to our west and a cold front heads to the East Coast.
