Winter Weather Advisory Southeast New York Connecticut
Orange Putnam Counties And all of Connecticut
The Winter Weather Advisory for the Hudson Valley and Connecticut has been extended southward to Orange & Putnam Counties in New York and to Fairfield County in Connecticut. Cold air is beginning to sink southward and temperatures are going to drop below freezing if they haven’t already as we move through the afternoon. Freezing rain is occuring over many of these areas now and there will probably be a change to sleet and wet snow going into this evening. Accumulations of up to an inch of accumulation is likely. Roads will probably become slick this evening once the sun goes down. Satellite and radars show an approaching area of rain out of Pennsylvania that will be moving through as the cold air sinks southward to the coast.

It is possible that temperatures in Northern New Jersey will drop below 32 in the next several hours and also over coastal areas this evening so be careful for slick roads developing. All precipitation should come to an end during this evening. Skies will clear tonight with lows in the 20s and even some teens in cold spots. Freeze Warnings are in effect for overnight for all areas. Tuesday will be dry with sunshine but very cold for this time of year with highs just in the 30s to around 40.
