Weather Models Shift Left
Tonight’s run of weather models regarding the offshore storm and the arctic front are showing a slightly left shift. The RGEM, Canadian, Nam & GFS all show this.
The shift isn’t a lot but it is enough that some models do bring some snow to Central & Southern New Jersey and Long Island. The RGEM is the furthest west. It still falls on the level of cheap thrill.
Weather Models Shift Left RGEM
Satellite loop tonight shows the well defined weather system moving across the lower Gulf States and heading for the Southeast coast of the US tomorrow morning. From here it will depend on how the low reacts to the polar vortex and arctic front that is approaching at the same time. It is possible that the arctic front is enhancing the western edge of the snow shield.

The GFS model puts the snow shield just touching the coast which is also a shift to the left. Again in the end the shift may still be too late not enough to produce nothing more than a cheap thrill. On the other hand if the Arctic vortex can allow for a little bit more room, the coast could see several hours of snow tomorrow evening and a small accumulation can’t be ruled out. We will of course keep an eye on all this as there are 2 more model runs to go through. Of course we have reality itself with the radar and obs so they will tell the final tale as to whether this is just a cheap thrill or something a little more costly.
I will be putting out a longer range video tonight concering the next storm off the east coast late this week and the longer range pattern.
