Lorenzo Changes The Weather Pattern

A Good Looking Weather Day Ends Another Follows Wednesday

Another day of sunshine is underway but we do have a cold front that will be approaching and moving through this evening. This will takes us from mostly sunny to partly sunny to cloudy with the risk for a passing shower late this afternoon and evening. We are going to warm a bit today as highs will reach into the 80s away from the ocean. The front doesn’t have much to work with so showers should be scattered and not amount to very much. They will be moving from west to east during the mid to late afternoon and gone by evening.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Regional radar shows a larger band of showers and a few thunderstorms in the mix sweeping across Western NY and headed northeast while showers that are more scattered in nature are moving into Central Pennsylvania. Rainfall amounts from this will range from as little as a trace to perhaps as much as a tenth of an inch or so. This is not going to do much to quench the thirst of your burned up lawn. Once showers are done, skies clear and morning lows will be in the 50s except closer to 60 in warmer urban areas and along the coast.

Friday Forecast High Temperatures

Friday we are back to sunshine with highs mostly in the 70s. Then we have another cold front arriving on Saturday which means we warm up again with highs into the 80s with sunshine and clouds. The front might lead to a slightly better chance for showers late in the day into Saturday evening but it won’t be anything crazy and it certainly won’t ruin the day where much of it will be dry.

Cooler Sunday Onshore Flow

Sunday will be turning cooler from north to south as high pressure builds southward from Canada. We We will see partly sunny skies Sunday as we wait for dry air to push clouds to the south. Temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 except lower 80s South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania. An onshore flow will develop Sunday with the coolest air here on Monday. Plenty of sunshine is forecast for Monday with an ocean breeze and highs in the low to mid 70s.

Weak Cold Fronts Mostly Nice Weather Into Next Week

We are going to see a bit of a pattern change next week and you may have to thank Hurricane Lorenzo for this. The powerful hurricane is not going to be headed here but instead it heads northward into the North Atlantic and it energizes a strong upper system southeast of Newfoundland which in turn will drive a trough into the east later next week and much cooler air will be arriving mid and late week. We will be exploring this in our long range post later today.
