Warming Up Next 3 Days Rain Late Tuesday Into Wednesday
& Late Wednesday into Thursday
Warmer air is moving eastward across the Ohio Valley and into the Northeast today. Some clouds are moving along from west to east and there could even be a shower or two of rain or wet snow as the warm front goes by this morning. This should be followed by sunny skies this afternoon. Temperatures will be headed up into the 50s this afternoon. Areas from NYC eastward across Southern New England and Long Island will likely be a little cooler with highs in the 40s to around 50. The same can be said for the New Jersey shore as winds there become more south which will hold temperatures down right along the immediate coast.

WEATHER RADAR
Warmer nights lie ahead as well as we will have some patchy clouds mixed with clear skies and a southwest wind overnight which will leave us with Tuesday morning lows in the mid 30s to lower 40s. Tuesday will be a very warm day from NYC south and west as we will have sunshine giving way to arriving clouds. Highs will be in the 60s but east of NYC to Long Island and Southern New England it is the south wind issue so look for temperatures there to be 10 degrees lower.
In the Northwest US today a strong low pressure area develops and moves eastward. Heavy snows and strong winds will fall in the Northwest US as well as the Northern Rockies and into parts of the Northern Plains. The lead low moves east into the Great Lakes Tuesday and an area of rain develops across the Ohio Valley. Severe weather will be an issue Tuesday into Wednesday across the Mississippi and Ohio Valley as well as the Tennessee Valley. Areas near the Lower Great Lakes will see elevated tornado risk.
This lead low will produce rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning across the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic and then a second low heading out of the Rockies to the Great Lakes will push a cold front eastward. More rain is possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The bigger storm will be the winds. Look for them to start increasing some late Tuesday over much of the Eastern US and we will see strong gusty winds Wednesday into Wednesday night especially along the coast. Gusts over 40 mph are likely at times especially near the coast.
As for temperatures Wednesday we will see a larage area of low and middle 60s from NYC south and west while to the east again with the south wind (Southern New England & Long Island) it will be in the 50s. Rain will end early Thursday morning and for some areas inland some wet snow could mix in before it ends. This leaves us with a breezy colder Thursday with clouds and some sun. Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees lower with highs just in the low and middle 40s.
This is going to be another instance of a cold front passing followed by a quick shot of colder air that lasts about a day or so before it pulls out. Friday look for sunshine and some arriving clouds with highs in the low to mid 40s. Low pressure off the Southeast US coast will straddle its way up the coast. The system looks weak at this point but it could bring some rain up the coast Friday night into early Saturday.
