Warm Dry No Major Weather Issues Through Tuesday Eta Poised to Strengthen Friday
We remain on cruise control weather wise through the weekend and into early next week. There are no weather fronts, no storms approaching or coming anywhere close. You can thank the upper high that is building over the Eastern US and the deep trough that is digging into the West. This keeps high pressure stationary along the East Coast not allowing any large scale weather changes. We should see a good deal of sunshine today. Along the coast this morning in some areas we had some low clouds and patchy fog and it was underneath that stock of clouds sitting along the coast. It burns away quickly and that is the one issue on the coming days that we need to keep our eyes on. It might limit the amount of sun and cut back a few degrees on the daytime highs. Also we have a weak upper trough to the west with some high clouds but no precipitation . That could play into the mix later today and tonight. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s today with a few low 70s showing up from Southern New Jersey south and west.
SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
No issues on the radars today and when it looks like is picking up precipitation it is actually showing false returns. Radars in general will enjoy along vacation here. Tonight will be a relatively warm night with most lows in the 50s with 40s in cooler spots inland. Friday will be wash rinse repeat with sunshine after whatever patchy morning low clouds and fog we have. Highs will be in the mid 60s to near 70.
Saturday and Sunday are two repeat performances. Morning low clouds and fog are possible. Otherwise we will have some sunshine both days. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s though some spots could finish a bit higher depending on how much sun. No rain is forecast for either day.
Tropical Depression ETA Will Restrengthen To A Tropical Storm Pushing Heavy Rains Northward
Eta has been ripped apart by the terrain of Central America but some sort of remnant low will move out into the open waters of the Caribbean tonight and then start to move northeastward into the open waters. Warm sea surface temperatures and a semi favorable pattern aloft will allow the low to restrengthen into a tropical storm.
The forecast track is northeast over Western Cuba Sunday and then into the Florida Straits Sunday night and then turning a little more northwest. We expect Eta to be a high end tropical storm and that could spread heavy rains northward into Florida Sunday and lasting into next week. After that there is too much model variability to settle on any future outcome with much certainty. The next cold front approaches us with some showers Tuesday night and Wednesday which means Monday and the daytime Tuesday should be okay.
