Warm April Pattern Ahead Next 2 Weeks
Now that the pattern of the last month has completely broken down we are going into a weather scheme that looks warmer than average and probably drier than average over the next 2 weeks. This does not mean that the weather will be Disney-like warm and sunny every day but there will be a fair share of nice weather days. Temperatures the next 2 days will be rather warm as we see highs in the 70s and even some 80s are going to appear on Tuesday in some areas. Beyond Tuesday we will trend downward closer to average but still be a little bit above. At least for this week through Friday at least, the chances for rain will be minimal with just a weak front coming through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with some passing brief scattered showers.
We are staring this week with a upper ridge (high) in the east and a deep trough (low) in the west. This means warm weather for us for the next 2 days with sunshine while all the action with regards to rain is in the Western US. The ridge in the east will flatten some around midweek which brings a cooler air mass but it will not be that cold really as temperatures only trend back down closer to average. This time of year that means 60s rather than 70s. However by next weekend the ridge in the east is back and this could mean warmer than average temperatures again for Easter Weekend provided that nothing drops down from the north in the form of a backdoor front of some kind.
A pattern like this is not one that favors big rains and for than matter even smaller rain events. It would seem that any rain will be minimal at least through Friday. As far as next weekend goes, as long as there isn’t much cloud cover and there is a fair chance there won’t be, temperatures Easter Weekend will be very warm particularly Easter Sunday which could see 70s to near 80 again.
Nothing in the long range through day 10 suggests any return to the blocky storm pattern of Mid March to early April. As long as nothing changes in that regard, we have a nice calm and relatively warm stretch of weather ahead so enjoy the nice days as they come.
