Very Cold Weekend With Gusty Winds & Sunshine Week Ahead Outlook
Very Cold Weekend With Gusty Winds & Sunshine Week Ahead Outlook
Our storm system that yesterday brought 4 to 6 inches of snow over parts of South Jersey to Southeast Pennsylvania and Delaware but only a coating to an inch or two across parts of Northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, NYC and Long Island is gone and now it will be about very cold and dry conditions today into Sunday. We will see some sunshine today but gusty winds and the core of this new arctica air mass being overhead will keep temperatures no higher then the low to mid 20s.
This cold air mass will be taking its sweet time moving through and out of the way so that leaves us with a very cold night tonignt into Sunday morning. Skies will be mostly clear and there will continue to be a gusty wind so temperatures will be rather uniform. Sunday morning lows will be generally in the low to mid teens. A few single digits area possible in the coldest areas north and northwest of the coast.

WEATHER RADAR
Moving on to Sunday it will still be on the breezy side as strong high pressure pushes toward the coast and the gradient remains somewhat tight with low pressure well offshore. However the gradient should start to relax somewhat later in the day. Sunday looks to be a sunny day with highs reaching the upper 20s to a few areas breaking above the 30 degree mark.
Monday starts of the work week with sunshine and we should see temperatures warm up a bit.Highs will reach the mid to upper 30s and it will be the first day of the last 7 that we will see temperatures go up over the 32 degree mark. Tuesday begins the parade of the 3 storm systems that will be moving through the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states.
None of these appears to be big storms but we will be in a moist flow beginning Tuesday and it will be like a conveyer belt with these lows as one after another after another take similar tracks to the west. Rain will probably move in Tuesday night into early Wednesday. A second system looks to bring rain Wednesday night and Thursday followed by a third system over next weekend. Most folks have expressed the fact that they are rain weary which dates back to the big rain storms of mid December and that continuied into January. Unfortuntately we are in a wet pattern once again. No arctic air will be over the US all week and that at least gives you a break on heating bills.
