Tri State Weather Big Temperature Swings
Tri State Weather Big Temperature Swings From 70s to 40s
One thing about the spring, temperature swings back and forth are pretty common. Sometimes those swings can happen several times in a single day especially along coastal areas where a simple wind shift to the south or back to the west can send temperatures jumping around 10 degrees every hour. Over the next few days we are going to see both some sea breeze temperature changes and then a large scale area wide temperature change later on Tuesday.
In the meantime the satellite loop shows an ocean storm to the east and a developing frontal boundary and wave to the northwest with our area sandwiched right in the dry middle. No issues overnight with clear skies and a few clouds in the mix with lows in the 40s to lower 50s. Monday we will see some sunshine and warmer temperatures with highs reaching the 70s however the sea breeze will come into play in the afternoon and evening along the coast. We are thinking that showers that will be developing to the north will remain north of us until Tuesday morning. At that point a front from upstate New York will begin dropping southward.
Radars are quiet and will remain so through Monday. Now on Tuesday as this front drops southward we will see areas to the north (Northern New Jersey Hudson Valley Connecticut northward) experiencing dropping temperatures from mid morning; 60s to the 40s by evening. In Central and Southern New Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania, the front won’t get there until later in the day so there is time for temperatures to shoot up to the 70s to near 80 before temperatures fall.
Rain on Tuesday will depend on any thunderstorm development that could enhance rainfall in some areas. Otherwise it looks like the entire area should get about a half inch of rain or so. The blocking pattern we are in could last into early May. JOESTRADAMUS has more on that.
