This tornado watch is a large one that covers a large geographic area from Virginia north to Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Watch the regional and local radars this afternoon. Convection is developing across Pennsylvania and moving eastward. It is likely that cells will fire up and some will reach severe levels as temperatures rise into the 70s in the watch area this afternoon.

Meanwhile the steady heavy rain has moved out to the northeast as the warm front pushes northward. Winds along the coast have been gusting 50 to 60 mph along parts of the New Jersey shore south to Delaware. These strong gusts are now moving into Long Island and Southern New England.
