Satellite and radar loops show two separate systems that are causing Thunderstorms North Rain South. The thunderstorms north look as if they have reached their peak as they move into western areas of the Hudson Valley and Northwest New Jersey this evening. Meanwhile the rain that has been in south and coastal New Jersey all day long is sliding out to the east. On Long Island the problem is fog that is dense in Central and Eastern Suffolk county especially along the shore. The fog bank extends westward along the south shore into Nassau County. In Western Connectictut we see some thunderstorms approaching from the west northwest. It is a busy night but unless you are where things are happening, it is just cloudy warm and humid.

The good news is that weather conditions should begin to improve from west to east after 10pm as skies should start to clear out from the northwest. Eastern Long Island and Eastern Connecticut will be the last to clear out and that my not happen until late tonight or early Tuesday morning around daybreak. Then skies should go mostly sunny with temperatures in the 80s. Wednesday looks cooler with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s with low humidity.

The next cold front will not arrive until Friday with some showers. Before that Thursday we will see an ocean wind and a mix of sun and clouds. Highs again will be in the 70s. Once this front goes by we should have a nice Saturday but the flow is fast and the next system approaches with rain later Sunday.
