SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR LONG ISLAND AND NEW JERSEY COASTAL WATERS

The strengthening high pressure to the north and low pressure off the Carolina coast is setting up a tight pressure gradient (large change in pressure over a relatively short difference) and  this will mean gusty winds and rough seas developing tonight and lasting possibly into Wednesday.

LONG ISLAND SOUTH SHORE FORECAST…SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY BEGINNING AT 8PM TONIGHT.

Synopsis: A WEAK COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS EARLY THIS MORNING. HIGH PRESSURE WILL HOLD STRONG TO THE NORTH AND NORTHEAST OF THE REGION THROUGH THE WEEK…WHILE A SERIES OF LOW PRESSURES MEANDER WELL OFF THE SOUTHERN AND MIDDLE ATLANTIC COASTS.

Synopsis: A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE DELAWARE VALLEY AND OFF THE COAST EARLY THIS MORNING. HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN FROM THE MIDWEST THIS AFTERNOON AND OVER THE NORTHEAST STATES TONIGHT INTO MONDAY. SEVERAL WAVES OF LOW PRESSURE IS EXPECTED DEVELOP ALONG A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY NEAR THE SOUTHEAST COAST THIS WEEK. THE FIRST SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO TRACK WELL EAST OF THE REGION MIDWEEK BEFORE A SECOND ONE LIKELY STAYS TO OUR SOUTHEAST LATE IN THE WEEK. HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS BACK INTO THE REGION BY THE UPCOMING WEEKEND.
