Showers Exit Weather Improves This Afternoon Rain Returns Thanksgiving Day

We have some showers moving through this morning with a cold front. Radars are robust in Eastern Pennsylvania but this area should weaken some as it passes through and rainfall amounts will probably be in a range of .1 to .2 inches. Thursday Thanksgiving Day we will see a more robust rainfall from low pressure coming our way from the Tennessee Valley and that should produce .75 to 1 inch of rainfall. More on that shortly. This at least is another dent in the drought that has developed in Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England over the last couple of months.

Once the front passes through around midday we should see improving weather conditions this afternoon with decreasing clouds and some sunshine developing from west to east. Temperatures will top out in the middle 50s to around 60 before cooler air comes in tonight. Skies will clear tonight with lows Wednesday morning in the upper 20s well inland and low to middle 30s just about everywhere else.

Wednesday is getaway day for the big Thanksgiving holiday and we see no weather issues if you are travelling anywhere in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. We should see a good amount of sunshine to start the day but clouds will be increasing as the day wears on. High Wednesday will be chilly with most highs in the upper 40s to some lower 50s.

On to Wednesday night and Thursday when low pressure heads from Tennessee to West Virginia and then northeastward to Southern New England by Thursday evening. Rain will overspread the area later Wednesday night and it will be raining into Thursday afternoon before it tapers off. The low then heads up into New England with drier air coming in for later Thursday night and Friday.

While it will be raining for most of area, some areas well inland north of Route 84 could see some wet snow from this system. It lacks the cold air aloft like we saw last week so we do not expect any surprises. Thanksgiving Day itself will be raw day. North of NYC in the Hudson Valley and  Southern New England, highs will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s while south of Philadelphia it will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

We are transitioning into a colder weather pattern over the weekend and it appears we will be in a colder than normal temperature scheme for much if not all of next week. Friday is the big shopping day and weather conditions will be nice and sunny but it will be chilly with highs just in the 40s.

Over the weekend we will see the coldest two day period of the fall season and the coldest it has been since back last February. We see sunshine for both Saturday and Sunday but temperatures both days will have a tough time getting out of the 30s for highs. Saturday and Sunday morning lows will be the coldest of the season area wide with Saturday morning in the 20s to near 30 and in the 20s Sunday morning and teens in cold spots. Bundle up folks!
