Severe Weather Risk As Cold Front Moves Through Delightful Labor Day Weather
Day two sets up for another cold front and another day of thunderstorm risk. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating a marginal risk for isolated severe thunderstorms in a large geographic area that extends from Southern New England to New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania southward to Virginia and the Carolinas. For Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England you can expect some scattered showers or a thunderstorm into this afternoon. Not everyone will see shower or storm activity.
In fact I would say that most of the area today could wind up being rain free. The biggest risk for thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening is in Virginia and in the Carolinas and here I think lies the best chance for thunderstorms. Otherwise today will be a cloudy to partly sunny kind of day and with more of southwest wind, highs will reach the low and middle 80s.

WEATHER RADAR
The front likely passes through early this afternoon and once winds shift to the northwest dew points will drop and that sets us up for a large dome of high pressure that will build into the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states tonight into the middle part of this coming week. Dry air will probably bleed down to areas across the Southern US and it is a sign that the summer heat is probably over with (other than an odd day here and there)
Skies tonight will clear out with most lows in the 60s. Monday will a beautiful day of sunshine, low humidity, a nice breeze and high temperatures in the 70s. Even cooler air will arrive Monday night and Tuesday morning lows will be in the 50s everywhere. Even a few 40s are likely in cool spots inland. Tuesday will be nice and sunny with high temperatures in the low to mid 70s.
We see this high hanging around and Wednesday and Thursday both will feature sunshine. Temperatures Wednesday will reach the upper 70s to around 80 or so. Thursday will be a little lower as winds turn to the east and northeast. Highs Thursday and probably Friday will be mostly in the 70s. By Friday as the high moves offshore and southeast flow takes over, we will likely see more in the way of clouds developing and probably the risk for showery rains next weekend.
