Scattered Heavy Thunderstorms Moving East
Less Humid Monday
We are seeing a cold front approaching us and in the midst of this warm humid air mass some scattered heavy thunderstorms popped up this evening and they continue to move through parts of the area tonight. No severe thunderstorm warnings are posted at the moment. These thunderstorms have produced heavy rains in some places and the risk is there for another hour or two before this all winds down. The cold front will move through and Monday we will see dry air come in from the Great Lakes and Canada and that will control our weather into Wednesday.
You can see the thunderstorms on the regional and local radars moving eastward. Some of the stronger cells seem to be moving close to coastal Connecticut and straddling the north shore of Long Island. Other thunderstorms are clustered around NYC & Central New Jersey moving eastward.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Monday brings sunshine lower humidity and highs into the 80s. Tuesday and Wednesday we will see some sun and low humidity with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Wednesday night we begin the transition to a hot humid weather pattern for the end of the week and next weekend.
We will probably see showers and thunderstorms as the weather pattern changes Wednesday night into Thursday. By Friday the transition will be complete and we will begin to experience hot humid conditions with highs reaching the upper 80s and lower 90s Friday and into the 90s next weekend with sunshine and the chance for afternoon scattered thunderstorms. Summer is definitely underway.
