Rain Tapers Off To Showers Today Slow Improvement Saturday Nice Sunday Monday

Long Island saw a soaking rain all night and we are starting the day with that rain area overhead. During the day the area of rain of will shift to the east. However we will still be close to the frontal boundary today and a second wave of low pressure will develop to the south. This will bring another round of rain or showers during this afternoon and evening before the second wave shoves the frontal boundary offshore tonight. Temperatures today will be into the 70s and the humidity will still be on the high side. Give yourself extra time on the roads if you are travelling away from Long Island or if you are headed here for the weekend.

There still be will be some leftover showers tonight and Saturday looks to be a subpar day. Even though the low will be to our northeast we still have an upper trough to deal with and that will keep Long Island in clouds and there could be some occasional scattered showers. Temperatures Saturday will be on the cool side with highs just in the 60s to near 70. The sun might attempt to break through from time to time but the unstable atmosphere will cause clouds to redevelop.

Sunday and Monday will be two very good days. Sunday comes with low humidity and sunshine with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Skies will be clear Sunday night for any July 4th festivities.

Monday is a day off for most of you and we will have sunshine and it will turn very warm and more humid. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s. Temperatures will be cooler at the shore by 5 to 10 degrees each afternoon. Tuesday brings heat and humidity with with sunshine taking highs to the upper 80s and lower 90s with the chance for late day thunderstorms.
