Rain Arrives Late Today, Rain Saturday Sunday Slow Improvement Memorial Day
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts today because once the clouds take over, we will be in a gloom a doom weather pattern through Sunday and we may have to wait for Monday Memorial Day to see any kind of improvement. A wind off the ocean is already blowing as we set up for low pressure heading from the Ohio Valley and will exit off the Delaware coast Saturday morning. Clouds increase and thicken up. Rain arrives from west to east late this afternoon and this evening. Temperatures today will be just in the 60s and once the rain comes, temperatures will fall to the chilly 50s with a raw northeast wind.

While the rain this weekend will not be continuous, when it is not raining it will be gloomy with some patchy light rain or drizzle. The first round of rain tonight could be heavy at times in some areas. The first low and the rain from this system will start to pull away during Saturday with the rain becoming more patchy but there is a second wave of low pressure developing to the south that will bring another round of rain Sunday.
It is going to be a very raw day Saturday with the wind off the ocean and highs just in the low to mid 50s at best! The next round of rain for Sunday will last into the evening and will be heaviest along the coast. When this is all said and done 2 inches or more of rain will have fallen in some areas.
We may able to push temperatures up to 55 to 60 on Sunday as a southerly flow takes over but a few degrees higher will make little difference to the raw conditions. The upper trough to the west is creating a southerly flow along the coast and that just funnels moisture northward.
Improvement on Monday hinges on this upper trough leaving by exiting the coast Monday morning. Improving weather conditions will commence once that happens but if the upper trough is any slower, it could delay that improvement. For now there is nothing left but to try to be optimistic that the trough does indeed clear the coast Monday morning and we see a decreasing in cloud cover and maybe some sunshine Monday afternoon, in which case highs will be in the 60s. Next week will trend warmer since there really is no where to go but up. It should be mostly dry through Thursday before the next front and the next round of showers and thunderstorms come in late next week.
