Noreaster Exits Colder Late Week
Noreaster Exits Colder Late Week
We still have Winter Weather Advisories up for the Hudson Valley, Northwest New Jersey and some areas in Connecticut across the northern part of the state as well as a few areas in SW Connecticut. Some additional sleet and wet snow flakes are whitening the ground in spots. Be careful on your evening commute. All Coastal Flood Warnings and advisories have expired.
The noreaster is off the New Jersey coast and continues to slowly weaken The upper air system is overhead and we are seeing some backside rain in a relatively narrow band on the radar. Others are sitting in low clouds and fog. As the upper air storm begins to lift out, there could be enough cold air aloft to produce some sleet or wet snow in a few places but it should not amount to very much. Then as the low moves out tonight precipitation ends and skies should partially clear out later tonight. Temperatures aren’t going to drop far as they should settle in the upper 20s to mid 30s. Inland areas might see a bit of a refreeze tonight as areas north and west of the coast are shoveling away a few inches of sleet.

Wednesday we should see some sunshine with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. The next front comes through on Thursday with a few passing showers with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Then it is a slow stair step down to colder temperatures Friday and over the weekend but at worst, temperatures will wind up near seasonal levels as there is no true arctic air around. Next week looks chilly but for now we will lean dry. Nothing much changed in the models today though there area differences on where we go in the longer term. Some runs show blocking, and some don’t. But at least for now there are certainly no big storms on the horizon.
