Rain Moving To The East Like A Slow Moving Truck

Rain Moving To The East Like A Slow Moving Truck

Seems like it is taking forever to get to the coast but from the satellite perspective things are moving along this morning at a snails pace. Like a slow moving truck it is making progress. However the rain on the radar, and this has been the case so many times in the last 6 or 7 months, doesn’t look that impressive, at least as of the time of this post. Now there will be some daytime heating (such as you can get in November) that should enhance some of the activity later this afternoon and evening, right about the time it is forecast to be over Northern New Jersey, New York City, and Southern New England including Long Island and the Hudson Valley.

Radars shows the heavier rain to the south southwest moving north northeastward so it will a matter of whether all of this can manage to hold together. Fingers crossed on an inch or more of rain but for some areas it could be a tough sell.

Friday looks to be dry with some sunshine and colder with temperatures in the 50s and it turns colder still on Saturday with highs in the 40s. We have another cold front moving through Sunday morning and ahead of it some rain showers that could change to a few snow showers before ending. Colder air is here for Sunday through Tuesday with highs just at best in the lower or middle 40s Sunday and Monday and perhaps middle to upper 40s on Tuesday. Normal this time of year is middle 50s.

You can see on the snow map above that the lake effect machine will be working but nothing extraordinary. West facing shores of Lake Erie and Ontario are favored with a west wind which means areas southwest of Buffalo and areas east of Ontario in upstate New York stand the best chances for some accumulating snow.
