Memorial Day Weekend Weather Issues Sunday Into Monday

It is too bad today isn’t Saturday because that would insure us of a great holiday weekend. Instead it is Thursday and if you padded your weekend with a couple of extra days on the front end you chose quiet well because we see Memorial Day Weekend Weather issues Sunday into Monday. Before we get to that however we have the next 3 days which look great with temperatures increasing. The satellite loop this morning shows clear skies just about everywhere for our area and we should have basically sunny skies today with temperatures topping out in the mid 70s to near 80 with absolutely bone dry humidity.

Radars are quiet with no issues there to worry about. Friday looks great with sunshine and highs into the low and middle 80s. Saturday is a beach day with sunshine and highs in the 80s to near 90. The sea breeze of course will make coastal areas a bit cooler but the west wind will likely hold here for most areas just inland.

SATURDAY FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES

Weather Conditions Improving 4 Great Days Ahead

This all comes to an end however Saturday night as a backdoor cold front moves southward from upstate NY & New England. The first issue will be the chance for some showers and thunderstorms during the early morning hours on Sunday. I think that we should be fine into the first part of Saturday night. Then the onshore flow sets up for Sunday and Monday with temperatures in the cooler 60s and 70s. along with occasional showers. I do not believe Sunday and Monday are washouts but they will certainly not be anything like the next 3 days.

The system in the Gulf of Mexico is likely to become a tropical storm over the weekend and will impact the Gulf Coast & Florida with heavy rains. Winds I believe will not be a huge issue at this point. Tropical cyclones are rare in the Gulf of Mexico this time of year but this will be third time in the last 7 years that we have seen a system threaten in late May. We do not believe the rain from this system will be moving up the East Coast at least through early next week.
