Memorial Day Rain Now Organizing Moving Northward
At least day 2 of the holiday weekend was not too bad but looking at the latest satellite and radar weather conditions are about to deteriorate from south to north with rain now moving out of Maryland and Virginia and heading into Delaware and Southern New Jersey as well as Southeastern Pennsylvania. We will see this rain spreading northward tonight. For areas in and around NYC there should be no issues through this evening and probably not until midnight or shortly afterwards. Then rain develops and continues for Memorial Day at least through the morning hours.

The HRRR model below takes us through 8am Monday morning. The area of rain seems to be moving along at this point and if this is correct it will be done for much of the Southern half of New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania by 8am. It may last into late morning though for NYC and Northern New Jersey and until early afternoon for Connecticut and Long Island.

Areas south and west of NYC should see improvement Monday afternoon but for areas to the east in Connecticut and Long Island especially central and eastern areas may take all afternoon to see improvement. Where clouds linger it could be in the 60s..where the sun comes out on Monday it reaches upper 70s to near 80. Rainfall amounts forecast area generally a half to three quarters of an inch though some pockets could see more in heavier downpours.

Another weather front arrives on Tuesday with a mix of sun and clouds and the threat for late day showers or a thunderstorm with temperatures in the 70s to near 80 in some places away from the coast.
