Maria is now a minimal hurricane as it continues to move slowly northward. It was not able to avoid the wake of cold ocean left behind by hurricane Jose. Water temperatures in the area that Maria is moving through are under 25 degrees Centigrade and this is not supportive of hurricane strength for a long period of time. Tropical Storm warnings are up for a small portion of the Outer Banks with tropical storm watches elsewhere on the Outer Banks.
Radar from Morehead City North Carolina showing some bands to the Southeast offshore but nothing that is especially close. The forecast track remains the same. A close pass to the Outer Banks later Tuesday and Tuesday night followed but a turn out to sea on Wednesday. Maria will head across the Atlantic and soon be in the history book.
