LONG ISLAND SNOW ENDING SOON
Woke up to a nice little coating of snow this morning and the snow continues to fall light but steady. The storm system responsible is pretty much acting on cue as it intensifies off the North Carolina coast and moves away to the east and then to the northeast. Not lifting up northward prevents this from being anything more than a cheap thrill for snow lovers. No advisories are posted for Long Island or New York City and places to the north in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut are seeing very little as the northern cutoff line of the snow is fairly sharp.
Radar is showing the snow beginning to shrink across New Jersey so that means the snow will be over soon here over Long Island and the coast…probably by noon or shortly afterward. A coating to an inch or so should do it. The March sun angle prevents from being a problem on road ways so travel should be okay. Jut pay a little extra attention for slick spots.
LONG ISLAND SNOW ENDING SOON LOCAL RADARS
It gets better later this afternoon and then skies should clear out tonight. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 30s today and drop to the 20s tonight. Saturday looks okay with sunshine and arriving clouds with highs into the lower 40s.
Another disturbance moves through Saturday night into Sunday morning with a few showers of rain or snow. Much of the time however should be dry. Highs Sunday in the 40s. Then in the long range it is a springtime pattern next week where we should be in the 50s Monday, 60s Tuesday and 70s Wednesday, except for local seabreezes along shore areas.
