Labor Day Weekend Saturday Sunday Mostly Dry, Monday Chance Showers Thunderstorms

The third and final summer holiday is here and it looks to me as if we will squeeze out 2 of the 3 days. Starting with today we have partly to mostly sunny skies in the forecast. The humidity which has been low the last three days does start to rise today but dew points should remain in the lower 60s which makes it more humid but not overly so. No showers or thunderstorms are forecast today. Highs will reach the low and middle 80s. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s along the shore with local sea breezes.

Most lows tonight will be in the low to mid 60s with a few 50s in cool spots. Nothing more than a few passing clouds are expected. Much of Sunday should be rain free with partly sunny skies and highs reaching the mid to upper 80s. Humidity levels will be high so Sunday will be uncomfortable. The shore will see cooler highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s with a south wind.

For much of Sunday there are no thunderstorm issues but late in the day and mostly inland, some scattered showers and thunderstorms could pop up. The issue for clouds showers and thunderstorms is a larger one for Monday as the front draws closer to the coast.

For one thing, clouds and a south southeast wind will keep temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s and I don’t think there will be much sun. The question of showers and thunderstorms is a little trickier. There could be some scatttered around in the morning until midday and then they will become more numerous in the afternoon and evening.

It may take most of the day for showers to reach the shore areas so there is a chance it could be dry in those areas into the afternoon before everyone starts to head back home. We will see an area of rain push through Monday night into Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts inland could be substantial with 1 to 2 inches possible but amounts will likely be lower near the coast.

There will still be some lingering showers around Tuesday as the front only inches its way eastward. One issue that may indirectly effect the position of that front is Tropical Storm Earl. Slower models that want to take early more to the west could hold the front along the coast longer. That could cause clouds and showers to linger into Wednesday before weather conditions can genuiningly improve late next week.
