Another hurricane has developed in the Central Pacific and Hurricane Hilda has strengthened to a category 2 hurricane with top winds of 105 miles an hour. The hurricane is located on the edge of the picture and you can see that in the center of the picture there is another disturbanced that will be watched for development along with a active weather further east off the coast of Central America.
Hilda will be another hurricane to come close to Hawaii over the next few days however upper air winds over Hawaii are strong and this should serve to shear the hurricane apart before it gets close. A closer look at the satellite shows Hilda now west of 140W. Future advisories will be issued by the National Weather Service Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Hawaii.
The National Hurricane Center forecast takes Hilda east of the big island of Hawaii and weakens it to a tropical storm at its closes approach point. If Hilda stays on a more westerly course longer then the track will need to be shifted west and south of this position.
In the Atlantic conditions remain quiet everywhere with no tropical storm development expected into Monday. It is difficult to even find clouds or even very weak systems at this point. Such is the case in a year with a developing strong el-nino.
