Hot Humid Tuesday Severe Weather Risk Wednesday Low Humidity Sunshine Thursday Friday
You may have noticed a bit of a smoky haze to the sky today and that is due to smoke from wild fires in Northwest Canada has made it here to much of the Eastern and Central US. You can thank a developing northwest flow in the upper atmosphere for that. Aside from this today is going to be the hottest day of the week.
Highs this afternoon will reach the low and middle 90s just about everywhere with temperatures a little lower at the shore. Humidity levels will be high but thunderstorm activity should not be a huge issue today. Pop ups are possible mainly away from the coast and they should be scattered in nature. The smoky haze we mentioned early is seen on the visible satellite picture below and it is what appears to be milky white cloud cover. Actual clouds are offshore and well north into upstate NY and Northern New England and also to the south from the Carolinas west into Tennessee. None of that cloud cover is headed here.

Radars aren’t showing much and late this afternoon and evening other than isolated small clusters of thunderstorms that could develop inland, most areas will see little if any activity.
WEATHER RADAR
If today is the the hottest day of the week than Wednesday will be the day for thunderstorms and severe weather risk. The Storm Prediction Center has us in a marginal risk for severe weather and this is due to a rather important cold front that will be dropping southeastward from Southeastern Canada and Upstate NY.
Ahead of it we will have sunshine and developing clouds and thunderstorms are possible in the late afternoon and evening. Since this is from a system moving northwest to southeast it favors severe weather more for the coastal plain rather than inland. Temperatures Wednesday will be in the 80s to near 90 for highs.
The payoff comes Thursday Friday and probably Saturday. Behind the front is a shot of dry air from Eastern Canada. Dew points drop into the 50s and stay that way into the start of the weekend before they begin to rise back into the 60s on Sunday. This will leave us with plenty of sun Thursday and Friday. Highs both days will be in the low to mid 80s. Saturday looks to start with sun but clouds will arrive later in the day. Highs will be into the 80s. A warm front will bring showers or a thunderstorm Saturday night into Sunday morning and then we transition into a warmer more humid air mass Sunday with highs in the 80s and a chance for late day scattered thunderstorms. Overall the weekend will be good with Saturday a bit better than Sunday because of the lower humidity on Saturday verses Sunday.
