HEAVY RAINS AND SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR LATE TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY NIGHT

severeThe Storm Prediction Center has a wide area of marginal risk of severe weather for Tuesday. I think the main threat will be from heavy rains more than anything else but there certainly could be a few severe cells in the mix. I think there will be 2 surges of rain with the first after midnight until the end of the morning rush. The second comes mid afternoon through late evening. How the second plays out depends on how much energy gets used up in the first surge. The GFS is pretty consistent showing a second build up so we shall see. Anything that provides a good soaking rain without going overboard is a positivegfsprecip

Model rainfall maps have been going back in forth showing 2 inche plus and then less than an inch…this seems to split the difference with an emphasis on the high end. Flash Flood Watches are posted for parts of the forecast area so check the forecasts tab above and your own zone for the latest. This may be the last threat for a soaking rain for a while as the pattern looks very benign after Wednesday.

No weather issues through midnight tonight. Rains will however be moving into Eastern Pennsylvania before midnight.
