Freezing Rain Advisory NW New Jersey
We have a Freezing Rain Advisory posted for Morris, Warren, and Sussex Counties in New Jersey from 7am to 1pm Monday as well as for most of Pennsylvania and parts of upstate NY and New England. As we look at the current temperature profile across those areas temperatures are at or below freezing. Skies are clear on the satellite loop and this will allow temperatures in those areas to fall further before clouds roll and and rain arrives.
Radars are quiet for the time being but they will become more active later tonight. There are no weather related travel issues through a good chunk of the overnight so we should be able to get to and from any destination without any serious issues.
The NAM model gives a fair representation of the area of freezing rain from mid morning Monday until early afternoon. Eventually warm air changes everything to rain inland while it is rain everywhere else. The area of rain itself is not that impressive to begin with. However if you are travelling Monday morning in the advisory areas exercise caution. Rain showers are a threat into early Tuesday before weather conditions improve.
