Finishing Off A Nice Weekend Next Cold Front Brings Rain Later Thursday
Colder Long Range
We have a disturbance moving across Upstate NY and New Englnad along a stationary boundary and that is producing some clouds mainly to the north. However that will continue to move along and we will have partly to mostly sunny skies for the rest of this Columbus Day especially south of NYC and Southern New England as the loop shows. The radar loop has a few patches of very light showers moving through New England but they will not be an issue here. We are left with a nice autumn day and temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 60s in most places. Enjoy the day!

WEATHER RADAR
The cool air mass from the weekend has settled in the Mid Atlantic states and it will move eastward only it will do it rather slowly. Temperatures tonight will be in the 40s to near 50 under mainly clear skies with some 30s in cold spots. Tuesday is setting up to be a very nice day with sunshine taking highs to the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Wednesday will be a repeat performance with some sunshine and highs reaching the upper 60s to lower 70s. Then changes occur Thursday. A cold front will be approaching and it will be picking up some Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic moisture so clouds will increase Wednesday and Thursday. Showers will develop and there might even be some heavier downpours and a thunderstorm or two in the mix. Thursday highs will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
This front could be productive rainfall wise with amounts of 1/2 inch to as much as 1.25 inches possible. Once the front passes we will begin stair stepping down in temperatures. Cooler air comes in behind this front and Friday will see improvement with sunhine and highs in the 60s. Some of those highs could be leftover from the overnight period. Saturday and Sunday look to be dry and on the cool side. A second front will arrive Monday and this will bring a stretch of below normal temperatures for next week. Right now it seems that we will be dry for next week as the upper flow from Canada remains strong.
