Showers Thunderstorms Saturday Nigh Into Sunday

Low pressure continues to churn in Southeastern Canada and that is producing cloud cover across the Northeast today. This cloud cover is not continuous as there are breaks. The southern extent of the clouds reaches NYC, Northern New Jersey & Northeastern Pennsylvania. As the day wears on those clouds should thin out as the low pulls away to the east. South of this line that satellite loop shows clear skies from Central NJ and Southeastern Pennsylvania southward.. We will call it a partly to mostly sunny day for most  of the area except areas to the north which will probably be cloudy to eventually partly sunny. Highs should reach into the 60s by late afternoon. It will still be a bit on the breezy side today.

Skies tonight should be mostly clear with light winds. Inland lows will be in the 30s while warmer urban locations will be mostly in the low to mid 40s by Thursday morning. Lots of sunshine and a west wind Thursday should allow temperatures to climb up into the 70s just about everywhere with only local sea breezes developing along south and east facing shorelines.

Friday is going to be a day with a southeast wind but it won’t be a day where we are socked in with moisture as we don’t have a strong push of moist marine air. We are going to call it partly sunny for Friday. Highs well inland will be in the 80s while near the coast it will be in the 70s and on the coast it will likely be in the 60s.

As far as the weekend is concerned we will be dealing with a slow moving cold front but it seems this front will arrive here a bit faster than advertised yesterday. I think the dayside Saturday should be dry with some sunshiine and clouds. A south wind will likely keep temperatures in the 70s.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday night into the first part of Sunday but it looks like the front may want to move along, in which case we could see weather conditions improve Sunday afternoon. Im a little cautious about this at the moment but for now we will lean optimistic that we could see improving conditions as we go through the day Sunday. Next week we see a cooler pattern overall with chances for rain on the low side at the moment.
