Dry Nice Weather Much of the Time Into Friday

Today makes the 9th day in a row without any rain or snow. Temperatures this morning bottomed in the 20s and we are going to see a good amount of sunshine today. Low pressure along the Southeast US Coast is moving out straight to the east thanks to the strong block in the North Atlantic. Weather systems continue to be suppressed to our south and that isn’t about to change anytime soon. Temperatures today should top out in the upper 30s and lower 40s in most places.

Our satellite picture shows us under mainly clear skies. Some high clouds are strewn across Virginia and points east. The radar is quiet and should remain so through the rest of the week! Tonight should be clear and cold with teens and low 20s away from warmer urban centers, upper 20s and lower 30s near the cities and along the coast.

We are on cruise control through Friday and expect temperatures to moving up a bit. Wednesday we will see some sunshine with highs in the low to mid 40s. Thursday’s highs will be in the mid to upper 40s and Friday’s highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Friday will be the warmest day of the week and this comes ahead of a cold front that will move through Saturday morning. Look for highs Friday reaching into the 50s and we should see at least some sunshine before clouds come in late in the day.

The front swings to the coast and slows down and waits for a wave to develop on it and move northward. This will put us in showers Friday night into Saturday morning. The front will then push offshore and drier and somewhat colder air returns for the rest of the weekend. Next week looks relatively dry and uneventful. Weather systems will be moving along to our south and remaining rather weak. The strong North Atlantic block remains in control suppressing systems and keeping things chilly but dry. The Pacific side is changing again in the long range and this should start to alter the pattern later next week. We will see where that takes us.
