Beautiful Weekend Ahead Summer Winding Down
Beautiful Weekend Ahead Summer Winding Down
While Hurricane Harvey is about to hit the Texas coast in a very big way with potentially record setting rainfalls over the next 3 days and prolonged hurricane conditions along the coast, we on the other hand are enjoying some great weather for this time of year. It seems the calendar is about 2 weeks ahead of schedule with mid September temperatures and humidity right through the weekend. Dry air is with us to start the day. There is a weak upper air disturbance which marks the leading edge of a reinforcement of dry air and that is set to arrive later today with just a few patchy clouds. Temperatures today will reach the mid 70s to near 80 for highs.

REGIONAL RADAR
The odd spot shower might pop up inland today but there is nothing on the radar this morning at all and it was not even worth mentioning in the forecast. Cool nights and sunny pleasant days are the story right through Sunday. Lows tonight and Saturday night will be in the 50s to near 60. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the 70s. Sunday is likely to be the coolest of the next 3 days with more of northeast wind off the ocean.
EUROPEAN MODEL NEXT 7 DAYS CLICK TO ANIMATE
Looking ahead to next week there are 3 questions. First is whether we see clouds coming in from off the ocean with an onshore flow developing beginning on Monday. The second is whether some sort of tropical storm develops along the stalled frontal boundary off the Southeast coast and moves northeast offshore as the European suggest. The third is Hurricane Harvey and whether its rains move northeastward and get involved with the next cold front late next week. Every model has a different idea on this. Harvey it seems according to the European moves back out over the Gulf of Mexico early next week and restrengthens to a hurricane before making a second landfall either in Southeast Texas or SW Lousiana which is something this model has been consistent on for many days. We will discuss more ona ll these issues later today. For now it seems that there is no rain in the forecast at least through Monday of next week.
