Long Island Weekend Weather Looks Reasonable Some Cloud Issues Subdued Humidity

Clouds have rolled in here at the end of the day with the East End still holding on barely with some fading late afternoon sun. Low pressure to the south in North Carolina has pushed rain to just off the south shore. It should start to shift eastward tonight as an upper trough to the north moves southeastward and squashes it. Look for clouds around tonight. That trough to the north will move southeast and it might trigger off a late night or early morning shower Saturday lows will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

The weekend promises to be okay. We will start Saturday with clouds but as the day wears on we should transition over to a partly sunny sky. Humidity levels are very low making it delightfully comfortable. Highs will reach the low to mid 70s. Sunday looks to be partly sunny though there may be more clouds around. The humidity is forecast to come up a bit but it will still be reasonable. Highs will reach the mid to upper 70s. It will be dry until Sunday night when a weak cold front passes with the risk of a shower. Temperatures over the weekend at the shore and over the East End will be in the 60s.

LONG RANGE FOR NEXT WEEK

Next week we see an interesting pattern for this time of year. There is a lot of amplitude in the flow. A Strong heat ridge builds in the Rockies and Southwest US while a deep trough takes over in the Eastern US. If it is bone dry heat you want you want to head under that heat ridge. Here in the Eastern US we will be under a strong northwesterly flow for all of next week. Troughs will swing around that upper low and push cold front through here. We have a weak one on Sunday. Another follows Monday with a late day shower or thunderstorm but the day should be dry with partly sunny skies. The same holds for Tuesday. It will be cool Wednesday and Thursday but dry. Monday and Tuesday highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Wednesday and Thursday highs will be in the 70s. Humidity levels will remain relatively low all week.
