Very Warm Late Showers Today The Weekend Looks Dry Cooler Saturday

Chance For Rain Sunday

We have a cold front approaching today and we are seeing showers in Western and Northern New York heading eastward. While the area on the radar is large this morning, it is forecast to weaken as it moves eastward. By the time it reaches the coast late this afternoon and this evening it will have just a narrow line of showers that will pass through. Ahead of this we will see no worse than partly sunny skies until clouds increase this afternoon. Highs today will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Once the front passes we should partially clear later tonight as a northeast wind develops. Lows Saturday morning will be in the mid 50s north to upper 50s and lower 60s south.

Moving on to the weekend we can safely say that Saturday will be the better of the two weekend days. High pressure building into New England will produce a northeast flow of cool air. This should allow for some sunshine Saturday for much of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. It will be cooler though with high temperatures mostly in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

On to Sunday where today’s cold front moves offshore and stalls, extending down into the Southeastern US. A wave develops on the front and there is a lot of moisture coming out of the Gulf and moving northeastward. However the frontal boundary is far enough south and east for only a grazing of clouds and maybe some rain reaching as far north as Central New Jersey and touching the south shore of Long Island. Otherwise it is a cloudy day with high temperatures only in the low to mid 60s.

Another cold front passes through early Monday with little weather with it. However a very cool air mass will be building into the Northeast and Mid Atlantic Monday through Wednesday. We are going to see below average temperatures. Tuesday morning will bring widespread 40s for low temperatures for the first time since last May! This is going to be our first real Autumn air mass! Have a good weekend!
