Snow Forecast Ski Resorts

Snow Forecast Ski Resorts, West Coast Ski Resorts Best, Little Snow East Coast Ski Resorts.

West is best for skiing over the next 10 days. Western ski resorts will continue to see a bonanza of snow on top of the snow that has already fallen there. It has been a free for all in the west thanks to the deep trough that has persisted out in the west for weeks. Northeast ski resorts however are on the other extreme of this equation as the snow in the least has been non existent. Nothing of consequence has fallen here except for northern Maine last week which picked up 1/2 a foot to a foot in the Green and White Mountains. Over the next 10 days the weather in the east continues to be milder than normal and no change is expected in the pattern until sometime beyond the 10 day period.

You can see on the snowfall forecast map for the western US from the Rockies westward that there will be a large area of 1 to 2 foot plus snows from the Rockies northwestward into Western Canada and also westward into the western mountains of California and Oregon. In the east other than some very light snow there are no big storms forecast nor is the pattern for noreasters there to produce anything meaningful. The lake effect machine unlike last year is completely shut off. For those of you wanting to venture into Eastern Canada even here the snow is rather lacking unless you head well north of Montreal or Northwest of Lake Superior and those snows there will occur late in the forecast period.

Today’s satellite shows dry weather in all of the east with a disturbance and clouds heading east out of the midwest. This is a weak system that is forecast to weaken further over time and other than clouds, no precipitation is forecast over the next week in the eastern US. Even if there were some precipitation with this it would be mostly rain anyway as temperatures continue to average milder than normal by 5 degrees or more.

Beyond the 10 day period there is the potential for a couple of storms to impact the Great Lakes and Northern New England but it is way to early to say whether this is the beginning of a major change or just a temporary blip in the overall long term weather picture.
