Very Chilly Air For May
Temps 10 Degrees Below Average
For Sunday and Monday you might notice the refrigerator door open as very chilly air heads southward from Canada. Remember that this time of year 10 degrees below normal is quite a large departure. Instead of highs in the lower 70s we will see highs just in the upper 50s and lower 60s for Sunday and Monday.

Sunday High Temperatures
Getting there we have 2 weather fronts to deal with. The first will come on Friday with showers and perhaps a couple of thunderstorms during the mid to late afternoon. The second front comes late Saturday with another round of showers and thunderstorms and it is conceivable that the thunderstorms with Saturday’s front could be stronger than the one’s on Friday. The atmosphere Saturday will be highly unstable as the front approaches among other favorable conditions for thunderstorm development.

Refrigerator Door Open NAM MODEL 850 MB LEVEL
When we look at conditions aloft for late Saturday there is a strong jet stream present at the 5000 foot level (850mb) right over our area. The NAM model actually shows a fairly solid line of thunderstorms moving through during the late afternoon and evening.
Refrigerator Door Open NAM MODEL LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON
We will wait until later Friday or early Saturday to evaluate whether this is going to be a severe weather threat or not. Either way it turns quite chilly for Sunday and Monday with clouds and some sun. Temperatures both days will have a tough time breaking 60. Sunday night will be quite chilly with many areas seeing lows down in the 30s.
A warmup should begin on Tuesday to carry us through midweek until the next cold front decides what it is it wants to do.
