NCEP Models Long Range GFS Dynamic
NCEP Models Long Range GFS overnight show a rather dynamic pattern setting up across the United States particularly for the Eastern United States. The overnight run gave several storm signals over the coming weeks. Of course at this point we are far away from any specifics but we have two videos which address this.
The first video addresses tonight’s long range GFS run.

Our second video address the Attack of the Polar Vortex Part 2 as this has longer term implications for the remainder of the winter. The splitting of the polar vortex at the highest levels of the atmosphere remains in question however it may line up in a way that opens cold air to flow into the Eastern United States even if it doesn’t split

The overnight GFS run develops two strong troughs in the east with one for late next weekend and another which follows 3 days later. Im not sure it is going to play out this way and we will wait to gather more clues from the other models regarding this.

It would be rather astounding to see 2 deep troughs like this a few days apart. Sometimes it is hard to imagine there being enough room for this. But I think the takeaway here should be that the pattern will be very dynamic over the coming weeks and lets wait a few days to see how all this ultimately evolves.
